ITINERARY ------ 1st May - 15th May 2012

Day 1: Siem Reap
Pick up from Siem Reap International Airport.
Check in at Angkor Holiday Hotel. Meeting point at poolside 6pm for welcome drink and information. Meet Gaye and the rest of the group. After a pre-trip briefing, we adjourn for a group dinner in town (cost not included).

Day 2: Siem Reap
We spend a full day visiting the fabled and awe-inspiring Angkor Wat Temples on a guided tour which will include The South Gate of Angkor Thom, The Bayon and Ta Prohm which is encased in ancient fig trees.
Suggest lunch at one of the many restaurants near Angkor Wat. In the evening suggest sight seeing and shopping trip to The Old Market. Dine at the nearby Khmer Kitchen

Day 3: Siem Reap
Tuk Tuk ride to the National Silk Centre where we watch the start-to-finish production of silk creations.
Suggest Moloppo restaurant for lunch.

Angkor National Museum
to see presentation of Angkorian history and culture.
In evening suggest a visit to the Night Market.

Day 4: Siem Reap
Artisans d'Angkor,
a school teaching the traditional arts of wood and stone carving.
Sala Bai
for lunch. This is a school that trains underprivileged young people in hospitality trades.
Free time
Optional extra, evening surprise: Luxury at an unbelievably low price.

Day 5: Siem Reap
We travel to see Chong Khneas, the floating village on the Tonle Sap Lake.
Suggest the Butterflies Garden Restaurant for lunch.

Angkor Hospital for Children Tour

Free time.
Traditional dance performance with buffet meal.

Day 6: Battambang
Check into the Stung Sangke Hotel.
Suggest Khmer Delight for lunch.

Urban Heritage Tour
led by renowned Battambang historian, Som Sangva Sak.
Suggest Nary Kitchen for dinner.

Day 7: Battambang
We take a fun ride on the unique Bamboo Train before it is demolished to make way for progress.
Suggest the Sunrise Café for lunch.
Free afternoon.
Suggest White Rose for dinner.

which is nothing like a western circus.

Day 8: Battambang
We drive along a beautiful country road to Ek Phnom, an 11th century temple. We then go onto Wat Samrong Knong where there is a gut- wrenching monument to the Khmer Rouge genocide.
Suggest Cold Night Restaurant for lunch.
If there is enough time we will visit a crocodile farm and a fish paste market.
Suggest drive along the river front to watch the numerous exercise and dance groups, then dinner at the Gecko Cafe

Day 9: Phnom Penh
Check into The Lux Hotel
Suggest Blue Pumpkin for lunch

The Royal Palace
, which is home to King Sihamoni. Silver Pagoda so named for its silver tiled floor.
Suggest having a drink at the legendary Foreign Correspondents Club. Friends Restaurant for dinner, which trains disadvantaged children.

Day 10: Phnom Penh
Toul Sleng Genocide Museum
( S21 ). This is a former high school that was converted into a prison and torture centre during the Khmer Rouge regime.
Choeung Ek Memorial ( The Killing Fields ).
This is the site where more than 17,000 people were brutally executed and buried in mass graves.
Suggest Jars of Clay for lunch which is near the Russian Market.
Russian Market. This is a shopper's paradise offering a vast selection of souvenirs.
Suggest dinner at any riverfront restaurant.

Day 11: Kep
Check into Beach House Hotel.
Visit Salt Flats and one of the world famous Kampot Pepper Plantations.
Suggest dinner at seafront Crab Market.

Day 12: Kep
Boat trip to Rabbit Island for relaxing day of swimming and beach walks. Food, drinks and massages are available.
Suggest dinner at Breezes restaurant.

Day 13: Kep
Free Day. Relax on beach, by pool or optional extra trip to Bokor Mountain.

Day 14: Phnom Penh
Check into Lux Hotel.
Suggest lunch at any riverfront restaurant.

Last minute shopping at the Art Deco Central Market.
Sunset River Cruise.
Final dinner

Day 15: Phnom Penh
The tour ends after breakfast. Upon request, transfers to the airport can be arranged.

Gaye will visit her humanitarian projects on some of the free evenings.
